The Elective Ordinary General Shareholders Meeting of MAIB, which represents more than 10.000 Turkish machinery exporters and works on contributing to their competitive- ness under the brand of “Machinery Manufac- turers of Turkey”, was held on April 14th. Kutlu Karavelioğlu delivered a speech at the General Meeting and noted that, the machi- nery industry increased its export volume, whichwas around USD 1.7 billion in 2001, nine times thanks to the investments and effecti- ve promotional activities over the last 16 ye- ars and that it established its export objective as USD 18 billion. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan becomes the first president of the new governmental system On June 24th, Turkey elected the President to serve in the first implementation period of Presidential Government System and the parliament members to serve in the Turkish Grand National Assembly during the 27th term. The Presidential Government System will have 16 ministries, 4 offices and 9 coordina- tion committees.
